The Museum recently received a wonderful gift from Isaac Lagnado, Bowdoin class of ‘71: nearly 200 Arctic- and Antarctic-themed photographs!  This is one of my favorites from the set - a shot of Bernard Hubbard, a Jesuit priest who led trips to Alaska for over 30 years, and became known as the “Glacier Priest.” In this photo from 1934, Hubbard and his lead dog Katma, wearing improvised gas masks,  stand beside a volcanic crater in Alaska’s Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes.
